Superior Performance and Design
The Intel® XScale® processor provides more than enough power to drive the bright color display, a range of peripherals, repetitive scanning and wireless network traffic. It delivers the level of response time and throughput required for real time, mission-critical applications in warehousing and distribution or retail (store) operations.
The CK31 screen can be read in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions. Its full “quarter VGA” resolution features a touch screen, so the CK31 is able to run both traditional, text-based applications or today’s more graphic interface.
Keyboard Options
Multiple keyboard options provide flexibility for applications that range from shipping and receiving, put-away and picking to cycle counting for the warehouse floor. An optional userinstallable and removable pistol grip handle is ideal for highly repetitive scanning.
Flexbile Scanning
The device offers a new area imager for the greatest scanning flexibility by supporting all significant 1D and 2D symbologies. For usage in hazardous locations, the CK31 is available withnon-incendive (Div 2) cerftification.
Reliable Networking and Security
The CK31’s Wi-Fi® certified 802.11b/g radio, including compatibility with a Cisco infrastructure, insures the best available wireless network throughput and reliability. A convenient communication dock provides wired host connectivity.
Security features of the CK31 support the highest level of protection. The CK31 complies in full with 802.1x standards including the Windows standard EAP-TLS and PEAP, EAP-TTLS and compatibility with many existing networks with LEAP support.
Power Supply
The CK31 includes a high capacity lithium-ion battery for at least a full shift of usage without having to change the battery.
Remote Management
With the addition of Intermec’s SmartSystems™, the CK31 can be used to remotely manage peripherals as well as to remotely and easily manage global deployments.

8-Line Display , DOS, Inexpensive |
The Percon 315 Falcon is Percon´s entry-level DOS-based wireless portable data terminal, featuring an 8-line graphics display and choice of 2.4 GHz radios. The Falcon 315 utilizes an integrated, PC-compatible, 32-Bit 386 microprocessor, with programmable speeds from 1 MHz to 25 MHz. It features industry-standard DOS 6.22 operating system, which eliminates the need to learn proprietary programming languages and allows easy use of favorite development tools. The Falcon 315 provides the same flexibility, ease of use, durability, and ergonomic comfort as the Falcon batch model, the Falcon 310, but it includes a 2.4 GHz frequency-hopping spread-spectrum wireless LAN adapter in its user-accessible PC card slot and an external, flexible dipole antenna. The Falcon 315 is well-suited for demanding, real-time data-collection applications.
The Falcon 315 utilizes an integrated, PC-compatible, 32-bit 386 microprocessor, with programmable speeds up to 25 MHz. It features the latest, industry-standard DOS 6.22 operating system, eliminating the need for proprietary programming languages and allowing for the use of standard programming tools.
Only the Percon 315 Falcon gives you a choice of 2.4-GHz frequency-hopping spread- spectrum wireless LAN PC cards and access points, including the Spectrum24 from Symbol Technologies, Inc., and RangeLAN2 from Proxim, Inc. Percon may offer additional radio solutions in the future. Both of the Spectrum24 and RangeLAN2 radios provide long-range mobility, high throughput and network capacity, advanced power management, and seamless roaming among multiple cells. The 2.4-GHz radios are fully certified by the FCC and ETSI and are being approved for use throughout the world, without the need for an end-user license.
Both the Spectrum24 and RangeLAN2 radios provide an indoor range of up to 500 feet and an outdoor range of up to 1000 feet. Of course, the actual range you will achieve depends on many factors. A site survey should be conducted to determine the number and placement of access points to provide the required coverage.
Both the Spectrum24 and RangeLAN2 radio options offer high throughput and network capacity. Spectrum24 runs at 1.0 Mbps, and RangeLAN2 runs at 1.6 Mbps.
Both radios support multiple, independent, non-interfering virtual channels (hopping patterns), permitting increased total network capacity through the use of multiple access points.
Both the Spectrum24 and RangeLAN2 radio options offer advanced power management, enabling full-shift operation (8+ hours) on a single charge in most applications. With power management enabled, Falcon 315 conserves power by suspending communication while the associated access point saves data for it. At given intervals, Falcon 315 wakes up and checks for messages from the access point.
Falcon 315 enables the mobile user to roam freely throughout a facility while maintaining a continuous, seamless connection to the wired network. This is accomplished using multiple access points, each operating on a unique virtual channel.
Falcon 315 is available with Spectrum24 and RangeLAN2 access points, which provide transparent wireless access to Ethernet-wired networks. Falcon 315 access points are configurable with software over the wired network or via a serial link. Models are available that incorporate an SNMP agent, enabling management from a single point regardless of the location. In addition, SNMP traps notify the network manager when various conditions occur on the access point. All models support advanced diagnostics for isolating problems. Access points are available with a variety of antenna options and mounting brackets.
Designed specifically for use with Falcon portable data terminals, you can use the Falcon Dock to recharge the unit's Nicad or NiMH battery pack. Your Falcon 315 portable data terminal will be fully charged and ready to scan in 8 to 15 hours.
Documentation kits available with Falcon 315 include network interface card drivers, transport protocol stacks, network shells, site-survey tools, and sample configuration files. NDIS, ODI, and packet drivers, TCP/IP and SPX/IPX transport protocols, and Novell's NETX and VLM network shells are provided. Site-survey tools allow you to use Falcon 315 to position access points optimally and validate communication from all required points in an installation. Sample configuration files enable Falcon 315 to be used with TCP/IP, SPX/IPX, NetBEUI, and Workgroups Connection for DOS.
