Microsoft Windows CE
Based on the Microsoft Windows CE operating system, the 5020 supports the most commonly used tools and protocols making the device quicker and easier to implement, resulting in faster return on investment. The 5020 supports programming environments such as Visual Basic, Visual C++, HTML and JScript. It also supports standard TCP/IP so that it can easily be linked directly into a corporate Intranet. To make management of the 5020 quicker, easier, and significantly less expensive, it supports standard SNMP. Each unit comes standard with remote configuration and management capabilities that can be accessed over the Internet from a desktop PC web browser.

PC-Card radio technology provides the option to upgrade to new radio technologies and protect the hardware investment. Compact Flash technology supports the addition or enhancement of the latest software technologies or applications and also provides temporary storage facility for the increasing amounts of data that can be made available with 2-D bar codes, RFID tags, and higher band-width wireless networks.
